The Republic of Cameroon together with the ministry of higher education of Cameroon, in the efforts to move towards emergency has opened many new higher institutions these last three years. Some of those are the Institutes of Fine Arts of Foumban and Kongsamba (Cameroon)
INSTITUTE OF FINE ARTS OF CAMEROON (FOUMBAN).
The Institute of Fine Arts in Foumban is an institution of the University of Dschang, here are the departments and the courses in the departments:
-Architecture and arts of Engineering
*Architecture
-Plastic arts
*Sculpture
*Painting and drawing
* Ceramics arts
*History of arts and contemporary arts
-Decorative arts
*Style
*Fashion and textiles arts
*Interior architecture (interior decoration)
-Arts, Technology and Patrimony
*Wood technology and fibers
*Patrimony and museology
*technology of metals
-Arts of spectacle
*Cinematography and audio visual studies
*Music
*Choreographic arts and dancing.
Studies at the institute of fine arts of Foumban are subdivided Into 3 cycles:
-First degree cycle (after 3 years)
-Master cycle (after 5 years)
-PhD cycle (vary)
CONDITION FOR ADMISSION:
Architecture and Arts of Engineering
-For science students only
-Holder of the GCE “O” level with a passed in at least 5 papers excluding religious studies and including physics and mathematics.
-Holder of the GCE “A” level with a passed in at least 3 papers including mathematics.
Plastics arts
All series with a passed in at least four “O” level papers and two “A” level papers.
-Decorative arts
All series with a passed in at least four “O” level papers and two “A” level papers.
-Arts Technology and Patrimony
All series with a passed in at least four “O” level papers and two “A” level papers.
-Arts of Spectacle
All series with a passed in at least four “O” level papers and two “A” level papers.THE INSTITUTE OF FINE ARTS OF KONGSAMBA
The institute of fine arts of kongsamba (University of Douala) offers the possibility to study in one of the following courses:
-Cinema and Audiovisual.
-Plastic arts and History of Arts.
-Architecture and town planning.
-Museums management and preservation of national cultural patrimony.
-Theatrical studies.
At the end of your five years of studies here you will obtain a DES (Degree in Higher Studies) in what you will study.
The only way to get into this school is exclusively through the competitive entrance examination.
For Admission
-For architecture; BAC C, D, F4, F1, E and GCE “A” level science student only with a passed in mathematics.
-For all other course all GCE “A” level holder may go in for, also all BAC.
STARLIGHT ACADEMY
Starlight academy is the best way to enter the institutes of fine arts. It is an association of the students of the Institute of Fine arts of Foumban, which will help you to prepare your competitive entrance examination to these Institutes.
-The competitive entrance examination for Foumban is usually written in the month of September in seven centers all over the country which are; Yaoundé, Douala, Dschang, Foumban, Bamenda, Bertoua, Ngaoundéré.
-The entrance examination for kongsamba is also in September and is written in Yaoundé Douala and kongsamba.
The subjects written during these exams vary depending on the course you are writing for.
preparation classes will start at Yaoundé on monday 6th of august 2012 and will last for 3 weeks
